Joshua’s Bio
Joshua began skating in 1996, at age 4. He spent his first year learning to skate at Pickwick Ice Arena, in Burbank, CA. Then in 1997, Josh moved to Houston and trained at Aerodrome Willowbrook under coach Andrew Foland. At the close of 1999, he returned to Southern California and began training with coach Russ Scott.
In November 2004, Josh shattered his anklebone, a serious injury requiring months of off-ice rehabilitation. He did not return to jumping until March 2005. Still plagued by a weak ankle, Joshua qualified for Junior Nationals in December 2005. Skating with a combination of grit and determination that overrode the pain, Joshua managed to finish 8th Overall.
In 2006, Joshua returned to Junior Nationals, hoping to top the previous year’s placement. After an unusual mistake in the short program, Joshua managed to make a great comeback by winning the Long Program. This gave him an overall placement of third and a Bronze Medal.
Excited about the prospects for the future, Josh has returned home and already passed his Novice Freeskate test. He is currently training at Yorba Linda Ice Palace and Westminster Ice Arena. He is still under the direction of coach Russ Scott.
